What makes the badger feather special is the stripe of black along the middle of the feather, with shades of gold and silver highlighting the two edges. When wrapped, it naturally creates the appearance of a black body insect with sprays of color on the outside. Badger comes in gold and silver (with varying shades in between), and the black of the feather has a beautiful beetle green sheen to it. Many professional tiers and experts agree that our badger strain is second to none.
A bit of trivia: A single rooster can have a gold badger cape and a silver badger saddle, or vice versa.

Grade 1-the highest quality. This grade will tie the highest number of flies because the length of each feather is the longest. Sizes run from 10 to 14.
Grade 2 - a great value. This grade will still tie the same quality and size of dry fly as a Grade 1. The only difference is fewer flies, because the feathers are shorter.
Grade 3- an exceptional value. This grade will also tie the same quality and size of dry fly as a Grade 1 and a Grade 2, but fewer flies per feather and at a price that won't "break the bank".
